January 3, 2596. Early evening, after supper Arnmaer did not act any differently today than she had since she Clutched the fifteen eggs so Valdis did not think anything of the gold firelizard streaking off to their room after the evening meal, the girl followed like she did each time. Arnmaer had been a good mother to the eggs although she'd laid them in Valdis' bed and the girl hadn't been too happy about it at first. When the pair of them arrived in Valdis' room though, they arrived to chaos... It appeared that two eggs had already Hatched, yet there were three firelizards out and about, kreeling with hunger. Two bronzes and a green... Valdis watched for a second and then one bronze reached out and started fighting with the other one.Valdis was in shock to see such a thing and let out a small shriek of fear for the babies... Everyone, please tell your chosen ones to come now, come to Weyrling Valdis' room! Eggs are Hatching and the little ones are fighting! Bring meat! Winteth shouted to the dragons, before Valdis had even completed the thought that people had better get here and soon. "Thank you, Winteth." Yet with the shriek she'd let out the rest of the eggs Hatched all at once... When the first arrived it would be absolute chaos. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Xerth had heard the cry of the young green and informed L’an who rushed to the room of the youngsters after having stopped by the kitchens for several bowls of meat. “You there, I’m sorry, I don’t recall your name at the moment… Can you bring more meat to Weyrling Valdis’s room?” He asked of a drudge, when he got a nod of affirmation the bronzerider as carefully as he could, yet with as much speed as he safely could muster with three bowls of meat in his arms, proceeded to Valdis’s room. He plunked down the bowls on the table that was in the girl’s room and picked one back up, “May I try for one of these little ones?” He asked of the girl, the firelizard and the dragon… The man finally glanced around realizing that he was the first to arrive. “Shells this is bad, Valdis. Wait, there’s others on their way, can you hear them in the hall, above the shrieking of your gold’s offspring?” L’an sighed in relief that he wouldn’t have to try and care for the mass of flitters that were rolling around in front of the fire which luckily had a protective mesh of wire before it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- In order of IntroductionBronze Poison - PolettaBronze Lion - N'kanGreen Melody - JoviGold Leanasidhe - KurittGreen Sykelig - L'anBrown Caspian - LilianBrown Skel - DraymGreen Keres - EmeryBlue Azure - AsosaMelanite Audra - MuirBrown Ladon - ReiBlue Akar - ThaelenBlue Sammy - MouseBrown Honored - L'ostGreen Frigg - AzariahConscience Firelizard - TarilBaby flitter image codes in order of appearance

Pol heard the green's call and rolled her eyes. Firelizards? Well, one of them could be useful she supposed. Fetching her materials and the such. The Journeywoman Tailor sighed, snapped the book she was reading shut, and headed to the kitchens to pick up a bowl of meat. It was a large bowl, perhaps too big, but Pol didn't care.
She made her way to Voris mountain, entering the Weyrling's room before her eyes opened wide. Faranth it was chaos in here! The weyrling must have only just realised the eggs were hatching! It was a repectable size for a Gold clutch, but Pol only counted two eggs hatched, yet there were three baby firelizards...? Maybe there was an empty egg with a hole in the back.
So what did she do now...wait? ----
L'ost was only a few Weyr's down from Valdis, the young brown-rider had had to go to the kitchens for meat first though - so he arrived soon afterwards, only to freeze a little at the sight of the bronzerider. He had traveled forward in time ten turns, right? Ith could have done it with his dad, had the man been able too...
L'ost sighed, before looking at the firelizards. Well this batch already seemed like it would be extremely troublesome...

Draym's mind was assaulted with an inexperienced green's voice. Valdis...OH! Shards, the eggs were hatching?! Draym excused himself from the washing of the dishes. He would deal with possible punishment later as he ran over, grabbing a big bowl of raw meat and dashing toward the Voris side. Carefully, he ran until he reached the weyrling weyrs. It was easy to find the one that the fire-lizards were in. There was a commotion. Sounded like fire-lizards fighting. Draym ran in, gasping. They were! "Holy shard! I brought some meat, Valdis! Can we do anything to stop them?" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Kilkin had actually been off duty today. He was casually walking about outside, enjoying his first day off in weeks. It was a pleasant day. And as soon as he heard the call from a green weyrling dragon, he turned in that direction. Why not see if he could get a little helper? Would be pretty useful to be able to get one to help out when he was really busy. The Candidate gave a shrug and found the weyrling's weyr. He smiled as he walked in, only to frown again a moment later. There was a fight going on, and between two beautiful bronze flitters no less! There was also a green already free of her egg, shards but this was interesting! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jovi had been entertaining a few little weyr brats. He was giving them a little show with his favorite instrument, his voice. He had been singing a traditional song though, and was cut short by the voice in his head. Fire-lizards hatching? He smiled. "Sorry kids, it looks like I have somewhere to be!" He gave each a little hug, and went on his way. They had small chores to do anyway, and he actually did too. But that could wait now! Jovi would love a little companion to keep him from going completely insane. The ex harper slipped easily into the noisy room. He watched in slight horror as the two bronze flitters fought. What if they killed each other, or caught that poor green up in their fight. This was horrible!

Amadahy was sitting outside the kitchen, a bowl of meat in her arms and her two flits on her shoulders. Duststorm, the brown, was just over a month old. He was as lazy as ever, though, and prefered being hand-fed to having to get his food himself. Emerald was lounging, eyes closed.
Then the voice sounded in her head. For the second time in under a week. At first she was annoyed, then she realized the green's voice was talking about the Gold fire-lizard's clutch.
After filling the bowl again, Amadahy dashed to he weyrling barracks. Two bronzes were fighting, and a green was likely to get caught up in it. Emerald's eyes narrowed, and she launched herself from Amadahy's shoulder. No hatchling, not even a bronze, could be larger than a fully-grown green. She dove between the bronzes, a strange hissing noise escaping her throat.
_____
Asosamine, Arnmaer's clutch hatches.
"Then let us go there," the greenrider said, climbing onto Azorith's back. They were not close enough for Asosa to make it on foot, but not far enough away to be able to safely between to get there.
Azorith launched herself into the air, and landed in the clearing outside the weyrling barracks a few minutes later, after stopping by the kitchen for a bowl of meat for the hathlibgs. Asosa quickly got off Azorith, knowing immediately something was wrong. She dashed inside, stopping short in the doorway. Two bronzes fighting, a green hatchling off to the side, and a full-grown green diving in between the bronzes. What a mess!

Arnmaer hissed at the green interfering with her offspring... Then smiled into her human's mind when the bronze children turned on the green, shredding wings with their needlethorn-sharp baby claws. The gold one then turned her red swirling eyes on Amadahy...
"Amadahy, I suggest you get your green away from Arnmaer's children before they permanently maim her and make it so she can never fly again... And you'd best stay back yourself. I'd hate it if they mistook you for food and started to eat you." Valdis then turned her attention to Pol, Draym, L'ost and the others... "Start thinking of how lovely they are, how much you want them to stay and not fight and end up getting hurt. Jovi? Maybe you could sing a soothing tune? It is said that 'Music can tame the most savage of beasts.' you know." She said with wisdom that seemed beyond her mere fourteen turns.
The little green who had Hatched from the same egg as one of the two bronzes was a stunning little thing indeed. Yet while she is conscious of this fact she does not flaunt it. The little girl starts a clear, pure warble from her throat and her bronze brothers cease fighting with themselves and the stupid green that got between them and listen to her wonderful singing.
The whole clutch stopped their writhing like worms to listen to their sister sing. Finally it seemed there was a lull in the chaos that this batch of babies wrought upon the Weyr, how long would it last however would be anyone's guess...

Pol watched as the adult green tried to come between the babies. Wild anythings were dangerous - the girl should control her firelizard at least a little better! It was just like a dragon hatching but miniature. Pol nodded at Valdis, imagining how pretty the babies were, and how she would very much like one (or more) for herself, and how she wanted them to grow up and be strong without silly scars from their hatching day.
The journey woman tailor wondered about the singing green - she was certainly a pretty one. And with any luck, the adult firelizard would be extracted from the clutch without too much damage being done to her. Any death was a sad one. --
L'ost held his breath as the babies began tearing into the adult green, horrified to the extent he turned his eyes away. He didn't come here to see that! He came here to watch and hopefully impress one of these lovely babies! Oh pretty babies, why did they have to fight? There was plenty of food here!
Look, everyone had a bowl! The brownrider winced opening his eyes. Oh please stop fighting!!!
---
Ruteakyra was there to cheer Draym on. The white rider entered the weyr (somewhat cautiously; after all, Winteth and Angeth weren't the best of friends at the moment) and the small girl was shocked at the scene. She stood next to Draym. "What's going on? Why is that adult green being attacked?" The small girl asked, as if the pair were nothing more than friends.
After all, there were people here.
Ruteakyra's birthing day was today, and so far nothing had happened aside from the usual oil, feed and wash of Angeth.

Draym stood there, rooted to the spot he was in. This was NOT what he had expected when he had come in here to try for a fire-lizard. things would have been a lot better had the grown green not been foolish enough to interfere. Now, the thing was injured, and by the looks of it, wouldn't be able to fly much for a while. "Amadahy, you should try to control your green better. She didn't really have to do that, and look at her wings now!" Draym was concerned, but the girl should have been more in control of her pet. And now the look in golden Arnmaer's eyes didn't look too pleased. Draym jumped when Kyra's voice flooded his ear. "Oh shard, Kyra. Scared me. The green tried to stop the hatchlings from fighting, and they turned on her." Draym shook his head, his hand brushing hers. "Happy Turn Day." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jovi couldn't help but burst out into a bit of laughter as the green tried to interfere with the fighting hatchlings. Was that flitter insane?! Yes because as soon as she had done so, the little ones turned on her! Jovi clapped a hand over his mouth, staring in slight horror as the two baby bronzes tore the green's wings apart with their teeth. "Oh, shards!" Jovi turned to look at the green's owner. How could the girl have let her green do something so childish and stupid? If things were bad enough, Arnmaer would intervene, but a green trying to? The girl best be lucky she still had a green fire-lizard alive. Arnmaer did not look pleased. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Taril was a little late, but as she slid from Yuth's back, she could tell something was up. There were things coming from the Weyrling's weyr that weren't exactly, pleasant. Taril rushed in, to see a now injured and bleeding green being attacked by two hatchling bronzes. Not only that, but it looked as if it was a fire-lizard from one of the people standing around, and the girl had just let it happen? Shards. Well, that's what the green got for being so reckless, the blue rider guessed. She slipped over next to Pol, some tailor who had recently came to the Weyr. She smiled at the girl, probably about the same age as Taril herself. "A lot of sharding drama already huh?" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Kilkin moved over to the other Candidate, putting a hand on her arm gently. "You'd best get that fire-lizard of yours out of here, and to the Infirmary Amadahy. You need to be taking care of the ones you have instead of trying to get more. You can't even control her." He frowned, but it was true. If the green was so reckless, Kilkin hoped she would learn from this and raise that brown she had just gotten a little better. Even fire-lizards needed guidance and control sometimes. Especially during a Hatching. Greens should know better. And now, the green was paying the price. "I would hurry."

Kuritt studied a few of the marks he had laid out on one of the long tables in the dining hall. The healer who he had done business with had insisted he least get a meal in him before he made the ride back to Elba. A few sackfulls of herbs and some fruit were welcomed at the weyr for people who were too busy themselves to go out and collect the things for their craft. The handler was more than happy to grab them while he wandered around at night with his wher. It also meant he could get a few marks in to help pay for the leather he used to maintain the wher's equipment, much less get some more herdbeasts for the wherhold. Honest living!
Not having a dragon himself, Kuritt didn't exactly get the same message that everyone else did about the hatching. Instead, he felt sharp incline towards his wher's temper. He paused in his eating and focused on the brown's mind. He was lumbering about near the barracks now that the sun was starting to go down.
Stupid dragon is loud! Firelizards are loud and so are people. Come stop stupid wherries before Kuritsk eats them! "Firelizards?" Going to break down door. "Kuritsk, no!"
He must have looked a tad silly saying the last bit aloud. A few weyrfolk glanced at him but went back to eating. They must have been used to seeing riders have conversation aloud with their dragons. He shoved the marks back into his pocket, returned his plate, and jogged off towards where he thought the barracks would be. The hulking brown wher was outside the barracks, eyes flashing red as he snarled at the door. Kuritt grabbed the leather collar around the base of his neck and tugged; not that it did much. The wher turned to him, calmly down slightly when he matched the commanding eyes of his handler. Kuritsk pushed at his shoulder and the monster dropped to the ground in a loud thud of compliance.
Food inside. Go show stupid people how it's done or I start EATING them.
Kuritt never owned a firelizard but if he could impress one of the most disgruntled beasts on pern, he could certainly help oversee the hatching. He managed to cram himself towards the back of the small room and evaluate what was going on. Some girl's green had gotten shredded and one of the hatchlings had soothed her squabbling siblings for a moment with a tune. He wasn't much of a crowd person but he willed himself to stay, just in case things got out of hand again.
(>.> Because they live in the same building as all this chaos)
Yulth momentarily shoved his head under the hay that laid on top of his cozy bed at the loudness of his sister's call and it jarred Azariah to attention as she sat at her desk. That gold's clutch was hatching already? She only briefly knew about it because her daughter had to deal with her sore loser of a bronze who had lost the flight for her. Speaking of her daughter, where did she go? Azariah turned from her desk to notice that her cot was empty of both the small girl and her two firelizards. Oh no, not this again.
She is starting a collection of chatterers. If it keeps her happy, why not? "This room is crowded enough, dearheart." I like them.
The weyrling sighed and moved from her desk. The blue dragon lifted his head to watch her before snuggling back into his warm bed. He knew that room would be crowded and there wasn't any need for him to go shoving himself in there was well. Curious as he was, he wanted sleep more than excitement right now. Azariah would have liked some peace and quiet as well. She passed the room that was full of people and hadn't spotted her daughter crammed in there. So where was she?
"Mom! Come look at the big thing!" Asta suddenly called from the exit of the barracks.
What now? Azariah picked her way passed the room and out towards the door. She almost jumped when she saw a pair of large glowing eyes that were glancing at her and her small daughter. That was...a wher! She hesitated in thought about pulling her daughter back until she noticed the collar and saddle on the thing. It belonged to one of the handlers who lived in the woods. That meant it probably wasn't going to eat them but she still pulled her daughter back instead of letting her jump forward to pet it. Whers may not be as tolerant.
"That's a um..wher, Asta." "He looks like a dragon. Can I pet him!?" "I think you should ask his handler first." "Oh, he's that pale guy inside!"
Before Azariah could say anything, Asta slipped back inside the barracks. Asta paused at the crowded room and peered inside. The hatchlings had stopped fighting for a moment and it seemed a little bit safer to go inside. There were still too many people inside so she hung back near the doorway to watch. Her mother had made it clear she wasn't allowed to have any more flitts until she trained Rhava to behave as well as York. Rhava cheeped in annoyance as she sat on her one shoulder beside her sire. She WAS behaved. So the weyrbrat hung back to watch and wait until the choas died down before she pestered the handler. Azariah caught up with her and leaned back against the wall to watch as well. People really cared this much about those things?

The singing green flitter stopped as her ears caught the sound of someone, someone laughing! Laughter was a good thing! Her mother often made her person laugh. And this laugh was a wonderful sound. Melodic... Where was the laughing pet? She scurried away from her siblings, realizing that the danger had passed and she was in need of sustenance. She wandered over to Jovi, placed a dainty paw on his foot, and chirped softly seeming to ask him, "Will you be my pet?"Impressed to Jovi This green is one of the most beautiful in all of Pern, and while she knows this, she remains grounded and isn't arrogant like some greens. She loves music and will attempt to dance with anyone or anything that she can whenever music is being played. Her love of music is so strong that she even attempts, and succeeds, at singing. She'll be happiest with a Harper, Weyrsinger, or someone who goes to many Gathers. She will be extremely loyal to her human and one bronze firelizard, while this male she loves might not always catch her in Flight, if firelizards could weyrmate she and he would. This beauty's hex code is 88FFD4. (The green is loosely based on Diao Chan of the Dynasty Warriors game series. Diao Chan was much loved by Lu Bu, who killed Dong Zhuo to free her from his unwanted advances. Dong Zhuo was Lu Bu's second adoptive father. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diaochan)~~~~~~~ The bronze followed the progress of his clutch sister, ah she had found a human to watch over her. Good! Now he could get back to... Oh, he felt as if someone was calling to him in almost the same way his sister did, someone to love this fearsome fighter! Someone who would admire his prowess just as she did and would always do... Someone who, could take his mind from fighting and turn it to gentler things... He snarled at his beloved green's bronze twin. How dare he think he could steal his only love away simply because he shared her shell?! He paced before the admiring humans, somewhat weary of them."Look everyone! Arnmaer laid a gold!" Valdis said excitedly. At Valdis's words the gold raised her head and mindful of her clutchmates ambled off the firelizard pile. She approached the girl who's firelizard had been mauled by her siblings and rubbed against her feet sympathetically and sinuously before turning to look at Asosa. Ah, that person looked fine! She wandered over to her and gazed up at her happily as she sniffed the freshly slaughtered meat...~~~~~~~ The bronze beast stopped his pacing when he saw his prey, yes that one would serve him and serve him well indeed! If anyone tried to make him share his person why he'd rip them to shreds! He marched up to his female and sniffed. This was the one he wanted. He cried out to her sharing his hunger and tried climbing up her pants leaving them in tatters. Good thing the person he wanted knew how to sew wasn't it?Impressed to Poletta This bronze boy is conceited and almost evil, but not in a malicious way really. He just goes about doing what he thinks is best and he'll be damned if he lets anyone get in his way. Only his person or the green that catches his eye can influence him. However if his person tries to get him to do something that he really doesn't want to do? Beware, he just might get it into his head to try and kill you. While most bronzes will at least attempt to Catch a Queen, this little guy never will. He is a Greenlover for life and that's all there is to it for him. As his bronze sibling feels for him, he feels the same for the other bronze. The pair has zero love for one another. His hex code is 5E381B. (Created to resemble Lu Bu from Dynasty Warriors. Lu Bu is said to have been the fiercest and best single warrior in the "Three Kingdoms Era" of China. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L%C3%BC_Bu)

Pol stared warily at Taril, before nodding in agreement. While Pol hadn't been at the weyr long, this woman had a little bit of a...reputation. The journeywoman tailor, however, wasn't going to get conned into any closets, and kept her attentions firmly on the hatching.
Pol watched as the bronzes seemed to stop fighting, and the singing green flew over to Jovi. Pol smiled - well, a harper and a singing green would do well together, wouldn't they? Then she almost yelped in surprise as the bronze began to climb her legs, tearing her trousers in many places.
As he reached her arm, the tailor began feeding him meat - after all, that was what he wanted! She could feel the Firelizard's mind in her own - it was odd, unknown, and completely different to hers. Or was it?
"I think I'll call you...Poison, after all, you are a venomous little beasty, aren't you?" Pol said, eyes twinkling. While he might be the evilest firelizard Pol had ever met, she would certainly love him for it. --
L'ost jumped at Valdis' word, barely noticing the green and a bronze had Impressed to another two. Clementh was still asleep, and the brownrider had very little confidence right now, so he said somewhat shyly;
"Congratulations, Valdis, Arnmaer."
Before turning his attention to the Gold in question. Oh, was she going to Impress to that greenrider woman? L'ost couldn't tell, and turned his head towards the clutch again, waiting for more babies to hatch and Impress. Even if he didn't get one, it was fun to watch now the fighting had stopped. --
Ruteakyra nodded. "Ahh, well, at least they didn't kill the green." She said, as Tiny appeared on her shoulder to watch. He wasn't going to try and break up any fights, even if he was bigger than the green. He was just there to give moral support to His' man-friend. After all, the man-friend's firelizard would be his friend too, right?
Ruteakyra blushed a little. "Thank you, Draym, you and Angeth are the only two to have remembered!" She said, eyes twinkling. Maybe today would turn out to be better than the others after all. She was a whole thirteen turns now!

Those silly little babies are hatching, love. Didn't you want to go check it out? Gritorth asked from her place on her ledge. Lilian looked up from the papers she was working on. " Oh really?" She asked...but the words were soft. She was terribly tired from staying up nearly all night long. It took her some time, but she finished scribbling something down, then stood up to get dressed in something better suited for going out. Rubbing her eyes and her neck, the weyrwoman started rethinking going to the hatching. She was so tired. All she wanted to do was crash and...
Something's going on. Gritorth rumbled anxiously. She could tell something was up with the babies by their mental signatures, and Arnmaer seemed upset as well. Tail flicked back and forth. Maybe you should go sort this out and then you can come back and sleep. Sighing lightly, the blonde nodded, finishing up dressing and then walking over and mounting her dragon. The great gold took to the air quickly, making it to the weyrling barracks in short time. The weyrwoman frowned. The girl had let the gold lay her eggs in her room? That couldn't be good for all the baby dragons trying to sleep. You can't tell an eggheavy gold where to lay her eggs. Gritorth rumbled. True, but you can get her somewhere more appropriate before hand. The gold circled, her mind telling the girl that they were in an agree to disagree mindset.
Landing heavily, Gritorth helped Lili to dismount and then departed. She'd come back to pick her rider up later, there were just too many people around at the moment. Stretching a little, the weyrwoman walked into the barracks. She didn't have any meat, because she really didn't want to impress anything. Her gold was enough in her mind. Walking over to Valdis, she glanced to the babies...they were...everywhere. No eggs, just babies and egg shells and... " Is everything okay? Gritorth sensed some disturbance in here." Maybe she should be clearing some people out. " I don't think it's a good idea for the..." Then she noticed the grown green flit with the shredded wings. Her eyes widened and she walked over quickly. " What happened here?" She said a little loudly, looking to Valdis and then Amadahy. Answers now please?
As usual, Mouse was sneaking about the weyr. Charlie was hot on her heels. The puppy had alerted her to something going down at one of the buildings with a shrill barking. Turning her head, the little girl noticed many people congregating in one building, and it wasn't the dining hall. Curiosity plagued the little girl, and though it was a lot of people, she wanted to know what was going on.
Creeping up on the hatching, the little girl just watched. Charlie barked and ran inside. Mouse's eyes widened and she ran in after him. " Charlie no!" She yelled out, just in time to see Asta staring inside. Grabbing the puppy's tail, she used her other hand to grab Asta and pull the other girl down inside the doorway, crouching with her friend and whispering anxiously.
" I think there's some monsters in there." She said with fear in her voice. " Charlie's gonna eat them though." She said with a grin, letting the puppy go. He ran inside, barking. There were lots of people! Looking around, the puppy padded over to Kurtisk and sniffed the wher cautiously. Wow. That's a big thing. Grinning happily, the puppy wagged his tail and then bounded over to Emerald sprawled out on the ground. Charlie nudged her with his nose. Heloooo. Are you okay? Get up now fly thing. Your fly thingies don't look too good. He whined softly, padding the ground anxiously and look pointedly towards Valdis. Another whine.
Oh, but there were so many babies! Charlie barked, wagging his tail as he fell onto his haunches.

N'kan was, unfortunately, bathing, when he heard the little green voice in his mind. A firelizard hatching? He had actually really wanted one of the little things, they were dead useful, if you trained them right. And cute, the softie in him admitted. Besides, he didn't want the little things to be hurt fighting. Sikketh was snoozing out on the ledge, so he jumped quickly out of the tub and dressed, stopping by the kitchens for some cubes of raw meat. The kitchen worker handed the bowl with a smile and wished him good luck.
By the time he found the right weyr, there was already a huge crowd and quite a bit of commotion. A green firelizard appeared to be injured as well. Shards, he hoped none of the babies had been hurt. Despite the crowd, he was taller than nearly everyone, and so he could occasionally get a glimpse of the Gold firelizard and her clutch. The eggs were certainly something, as pretty as any dragon eggs. As he entered the room, a green hatchling started to sing, a lovely sound, and things quieted as her siblings started to listen. The frenzied chaos died down and a couple of the hatchlings accepted food from their future owners. N'kan couldn't help but smile, despite his hair still dripping wet, at the grins on the faces of the proud 'parents' of the new babies. Hopefully, there'd be no more injuries.

Rei had been mulling about the Weyr for a few days now, and it was certainly something that hadn't changed in the years she had been gone. Dragons still flew, riders still did their duty. Fire-lizards about here and there. What seemed to grow was the expanse of records, and the levels of new excitement. New Weyrlings, and a few fire-lizard clutch at that. It was Reisk who complained to her, alerting her of a change in all the sameness.
Ugh, stupid noise. Babies hatching, very annoying sound those fire-lizards make when they hatch apparently. Fighting, perhaps? But annoying. You must go. Reisk said, a low grumble in his thought voice, and Rei was surprised by the notion of fighting. Fighting? The babies? Her slight maternal side had her up and going for the kitchens. It certainly woke her up if anything, the nocturnal time clock she'd been on certainly threw her off when she arrived back at the Weyr.
Her heavy boots carried her quickly to the kitchens, fetching a generous bowl of meat as she went. It was a quick trip and she found herself a bit lost in the Weyrling barracks having never lived there, but found the commotion soon enough. She arrived just when an older green fire-lizard was trying to break up some fighting between the hatchlings.
Rei could only watch, seeing the babies attack the other who was trying to help. That was how hatchlings were...if they were anything like wher babies. Which she supposed was true since they were related to one another. She stood, at watch as a green and a bronze Impressed to specific others in the group. If there was one thing Rei noticed, it was Kuritt standing there among the others. Fancy that, Reisk had told her Kuritsk was here, but she hadn't figured out why. Now she knew.
She stood in a little to the back, watching as a Gold fire-lizard hatched from the group. A genuine smile crossed Rei's lips at the sight, she was darling. "Congrats," she murmured, loud enough for the other to hear, but her thoughts were focused on the babies and the rest of the eggs to hatch. This was sure exciting from the start, even the resident Weyrwoman was here for the spectacle!

A sickly looking very small green crawled out from under the pile of her siblings, barely making a sound this palm-sized little one made her way toward the hallway seemingly unnoticed by all but her mother, her mother's human, and the human's dragon. How the little thing made it to the hall without getting herself squished was a wonder. But she was determined indeed to find the one for her...
~~~~~~~
L'an watched the squirming pile of firelizards and wondered how long it would be before they turned to eat one another, he hoped they would not go cannibal. It would quite likely make several people in the room sick and that would make things even less pleasant indeed.
~~~~~~~
A brown with frothy looking spots on his body was the next to distinguish himself from the mess of firelizards on the floor. He staggered around as if drunk. Sniffing the air he caught a lovely scent, Shura red! Now this youngster had no idea what exactly it was that he had smelled, but it was a pleasant odor to his mind and he was determined to eventually have a taste, or thirty, of whatever it was.
~~~~~~~
A second brown made his way from the group of firelizards, he seemed to be looking for someone amid his siblings. Ah, there was who he was looking for. He cautiously made his way toward the staggering brown and nuzzled him companionably. Yet he turned back to the pile of his brothers and sisters with a faint whimpering cry.
((I'm sorry about my disappearance. I had some drama at home that left me in a bad mood, and I didn't want it to rub off in my roleplaying. By the time I started feeling better, I had to go broadcast the home games.))
"Emerald! Don't!" Amadahy cried out. She quickly pulled the little green out from between the bronzes. She cradled the flit in her arms, fighting back tears. "Why do you insist on playing peace-keeper?" she asked softly, her voice shaking. "Why put yourself at risk?"
She turned, glaring at the others. "You can't understand unless you've had a flit for as long as I've had Emerald by my side!" she cried. "She's not a puppet that I can bend to my will. She's more than just a pet. She's the only real friend, before Duststorm hatched, that I've had since the meteors!" She didn't try to hide the tears that fell down her cheeks. She glared accusingly at the others. "How dare you assume you know how I feel?!" She turned and dashed to the door, but stopped when she felt the gold. She saw the flit go up to Asosa, then blinked.
"Ama-" Asosa started. Then she saw where Amadahy's gaze was directed. She smiled slightly at the gold. A queen flit! Asosa knealt down and held out her hand, a few small chunks of meat in it. "I would be honored to have such a fine creature by my side," she said softly, watching the creature's actions with much interest.
Amadahy watched as her old friend basically Impressed the gold flit. She couldn't help but smile slightly. "Congratulations," she said, all anger gone from her voice. She turned to the Weyrwoman and dipped her head, shoulders shaking slightly.
"Emerald... She saw the bronzes fighting, and got in the middle of it..." she explained quietly, eyes squeezed shut against the new tears. "I didn't know she was going to, she just launched herself from my shoulder into the middle of it... If I'd known it would end up like this, I would've left these two in my room..." Emerald let out a squeek when one of Amadahy's tears landed on her hide. She sent her human an image of herself in the sky, as if to say I will not stop until I can fly again.
