Mouse looked to Asta's firelizards and realized she was right about the capabilities of the littles. She wanted to pet York on the head, but she decided that she was far too scared to. When the girl spoke, Mouse looked at Asta’s mother and thought about going to talk to the older woman. Again, fear seized her heart and held her in place next to her friend. It was better to just do things first and then say sorry after, right? Because if you’re perpetually asking for permission, then you’ll never get anything you want. But that was little Mouse’s mantra. Silently, she accompanied her friend out into the busy room, only to be turned around and brough towards the hallway. Mouse’s face fell. “ Poor baby!” She said, crouching down by the little firelizard. Charlie was happy to see his mistress, but he wasn’t going to leave his self appointed charge now. Lowering his head, Charlie brought the little firelizard towards his chest with a brush of overlarge paw and began to lick her face. Suddenly, Mouse giggled. “ Look! Charlie thinks he’s its mama! Silly puppy.” Then she thought more seriously about the predicament. “ Won’t we hurt it if we take it to the healer before it finds her person?” Oh this was a pickle. “ Maybe we should try though. It doesn’t look very healthy.” Charlie gave a whine of agreement. She knew she should have felt bad about throwing up all over that nice person’s feet. Yes, inside she thought that the person was nice, that she didn’t know that the meat had been contaminated, but her pride kept her from going back and apologizing. She knew that that girl wasn’t hers’ without a doubt now, and she didn’t want to waste time finding hers’, not when her stomach crackled viciously and hunger pangs ripped through her little belly. Pausing in the middle of the room, the little queen pulled herself together, holding a regal little stance, as if she had just not lost her composure all together. Inside though, she was creeling. And although she didn’t like to admit it, she started to creel out loud. She was so hungry and her person was soooo far away. Why wasn’t he here with her? Oh! She thought, causing her head to shoot up. She knew who he was. Happily, she began to walk in the direction her person was. While the gold was trying to find her person, another firelizard had detached itself from the throng of its siblings and was laying on Valdis’ pillow, watching the happenings with vaguely annoyed orange and yellow whirling eyes. It was an odd color, and could have been mistaken for dark brown at first, almost like sand dipped in water, if it weren’t for the unmistakable silvery sheen all over its body, enhanced by the egg goo still clinging persistently to its hide. It was clear by the sheer size of this baby that it wasn’t a brown. In fact, it was nearly as large as the queen, matching its bronze brothers in size. What stopped the dark little hatchling from being a bronze, aside from the too brown tone of its’ hide? Maybe it was the way it stared at its gold sister, retreating from the bed.
The purplish brown hatchling stood from where she had been laying, stretching out her limbs with sinuous grace, almost like a cat. Flaring her wings, she leaped off the bed, using her glide to catch herself and slow her fall. She then proceeded to hiss at her gold sister’s retreating backside, causing the gold to turn around slowly and face whoever dared hiss at her.At first the gold didn’t know why someone would hiss at her. She faced her dark sister, obviously a mutation, with all the grace of her breeding. When the melanite hissed again, her wings flared, trying to assert her dominance over the little queen, the gold started to get irritated. All she wanted to do was find her person, and this…this…freak was hassling her! Pulling herself to he full height, the little queen showed that she wouldn’t take any of this from the other female. Sister or not. She flared her own impressive wings out, eyes swirling with red and yellow, matching the flashing gaze of her sister. The pair of them continued to battle each other on the floor, hiss for hiss. It wouldn’t get physical though…probably, maybe. Who knew though. At the moment, the two little females were just savagely hissing at each other, each one advancing on the other with every hiss and causing the other to step back.At the same time that the two girls were fighting for dominance, a blue and a brown were tangled together on the bed. Obviously their eggs had cracked very near each other and the hatchlings had fallen together in a heap of ungainly limbs. Neither was pleased about their current situation, at all. They were both uttering a volley of hissing spits as they went rolling together, unable to untangle themselves from each other. Clearly though, these two weren’t opposed to physical violence, at all, because they were biting, clawing, scratching at each other. Luckily, their limbs were pretty tangled, so they couldn’t do too much damage. If they were to go on like this for much longer, they might just manage to kill each other. Again, luckily, they were nearing the edge of the bed and the tangled pair went tumbling off the bed, creeling in surprise as they hit the ground, the force of which caused them to fall in separate little piles. The brown was the first too pull himself together and jumping up to face his blue brother, who was taking a little longer. He flicked his wings and hissed in indignance at his blue brother. The blue wasn’t rising to the occasion though, and flicked his tail angrily, hissing and turning his attention from his brother to his two sisters, who were still hissing angrily at each other, unperturbed by the tumble their brothers had just taken. He made it clear that he hated them both equally from the rapid fire little hissing and growling. But it was clear the girls weren’t listening. The blue didn’t care. He hung back with his melanite sister, glaring at the gold with burning red eyes. He wanted to hang around longer, see who the winner of this would be, but his brown brother was coming up, glaring at him. He wasn’t afraid of the brown, but he was so very large, and the little blue didn’t want to tangle with him. Hissing at him one more time, the blue turned tail and ran, straight into someone’s leg.
The blue was plastered against the leg for a few seconds, then seemed to decide that the leg was a rather nice thing indeed and began to climb up the leg, using his claws to grasp at the fabric of the man’s trousers and pull himself up, creeling hungrily. Suddenly, he hit something and looked up into the bright eyes of a little humanthing. He was confused for a moment, until he realized His was holding this…this thing. He hissed in an indignant fashion at the little boy, leaping backwards in surprise off of His’ pants, but using his wings to keep aloft in the air. Badddd, baddd ugly little humanthing! He hissed and spit while flying towards His, far away from the little one. Perching on Thaelen’s shoulder, he rubbed his head, egg goo and all against the man’s neck, creeling and chittering happily. Oh, he loved his, he did. He loved his sooo much. But that thing! He opened rainbow whirling eyes to stare at Aeleki. That thing would have to go! He hissed at the little boy, trying to wrap himself around Thaelen’s neck trying to assert his dominance over the child.
His.
It was then that he noticed the other blue firelizard on His' other shoulder. THIS was not good. Not good at all. Puffing himself up, he glared at Rama. Why did he have to pick someone with soo much baggage? Ah well. Thaelen was his now, and he would not let these interlopers win. Opening his maw, he wrapped his tail around His' neck and advanced upon the older firelizard, snapping at the other, but not getting closer. He might have launched himself at the older firelizard if he did not fly away and now. This humanthing was his. He spat at Rama, tail still wrapped around Thaelen's neck. This was one firelizard who did not want to share.A blue that seems to hate everyone he meets except for his chosen human. This blue is short of temper and for some reason has a chip on his shoulder even from his Hatching. He is open minded and valerous, has no respect for disipline yet values and looks up to warriors of skill. When not with his person he will often be found watching the Weyrling master train the Weyrlings so as to gain more and better skills himself. This odd little guy has a love of silk surounding him yet will destroy the silk after having slept in a nest of it just once. He loves the jingling of bells and will pilfer at least one to wear if his human does not see his desperate need to have one near him at all times. He will do whatever it takes to get his owner to lighten up and have fun because fun is what life is all about. His hex code is 8AB9F1. (The inspiration for this blue came from Gan Ning. Gan Ning was a pirate who would often kill people in public as well as in secret. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gan_Ning)The little show between the melanite and the gold was heating up as the two females started to get louder and louder. The brown had meandered over after the blue had left to watch them with whirling red eyes and a predatory look in his gaze. He didn’t move to attack either female, he just watched, his head low, shoulders hunched. He wanted to see who would win, see who was the weakest. The two little females probably would have come to blows quickly had the gold not got the sudden and terrible idea that her scheming sister might try to steal Hers! The thought was a distressing one for the little queen, and she couldn’t let it happen. Hissing once more at her dark sister, she opened her wings and took to the air, flying towards the one she wanted, had wanted all along. Her flying wasn’t the best at this young age, and she nearly overshot her choice, claws extending to dig into his scalp to keep her from flying right over his head. Her hind end fell, smacking the back of his head. Her claws scrabbled against his head as she pulled himself up to perch on Kuritt’s head, gazing down at her sister and brown brother, who seemed to be glaring at her. She then pulled herself to hang down in her boy’s face, looking at him curiously with faintly rainbow whirling eyes. Oh hello there. You’re mine now, my evil sister won’t ever get you. I am terribly hungry though, so would you feed me? She seemed to say, rubbing her head against his cheek. She nearly fell off in her haste to love on Hers’, but grabbed Kuritt’s shirt at the last second and hoisted herself up onto his shoulder.
No one saw that. She thought proudly, puffing up regally on her boy’s shoulder.Arnmaer's golden daughter is a lovely pale gold at her snout, this fades across her body into a dark orange at her tail almost looking like a tongue of flame. The gold is a determined fighter and tends to mother all around her no matter their species. She is straightforward and agressive, but works hard to support her human and the other pets of her human as best she can. This gold will have a favorite mate unlike many other firelizard females. She also hates raw food. It must be cooked for her to eat it unless she's ready to rise, that is the only time she'll eat anything raw. The hex code for this flitter is FEE5AC. (Loosely based on Zhu Rong of the Dynasty Warriors game series. Zhu Rong claimed descent from the legendary god of fire with whom she shares her name. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lady_Zhurong)

L'ost hadn't noticed the odd flitter at first, at least not until the hissing began. His eyes widened at the sight of it...her though. She was...well, compared to the Gold, she looked evil. Perhaps it was her dark colours, or maybe it was the fact she was hissing loudly. L'ost had seen this with animals though - a dominance battle perhaps?
Whatever it was, the young brownrider was distracted by the blue and brown tumbling off the bed - them too hissing at each other. Well, at least this hatching was interesting. The blue headed off to find his, Impressing to the Handler of the scary large Gold Wher. Well, hopefully he wouldn't be fed whatever that Gold had been eating or he'd be the size of a dragon!
Then the hissing stopped and L'ost watched as the Gold Impressed off to the Brown-handler - L'ost hadn't noticed the brown at first, but compared to the Gold, he was dog sized!
L'ost swallowed. He'd never go to Elba Hold. Never ever!

The sickly, tiny green froze when the puppy licked her all over. Then when she realized that it meant her no harm, (those teeth were so big and frightening!) she rolled onto her back and let it clean off her tummy too, it certainly wouldn't be good for her human to see her all filthy would it? She sent the impression of gratitude to the puppy and rolled herself back onto her feet with his help. Goodness that thing on your face is coooold! She had thought that her person was out here in the hall, but was mistaken and carefully started to make her way back into Valdis's room...~~~~~~~ L'an's concern for the small, seemingly helpless and weak forced him to follow the tiny green firelizard. He couldn't help wanting to help the little one, his heart went out to her. He paused when he saw the puppy licking the little one, was such a thing possible? Could a canine Impress a flitter? He shook his head. ~~~~~~~ Another blue found his way out of the pile and tested his wings, slightly covered with drying egg stuff yet not enough to hamper flight. And flight was necessary for His was not in the room although many, many people were... He took a leap and pumped his wings flying through the door. There His person was, checking on.. Oh dear, that little sister did not look well at all. He landed on Charlie's back and chirruped inquiringly at not only his sister, but also his person. Mine, you must stop paying attention to my sister and feed me, now. Mouse was going to have her hands full teaching this one finesse and how to be delicate...Impressed to Mouse This blue is a very hard worker who often takes things much too seriously. He's also abrupt in his manners, blunt and sometimes unceremoniously short with people. He is courageous, decisive, and can be witty. At first this particular blue will try and force things to happen to get his way, once he discovers that this is not the way to get things done he will figure out that strategy is the way to go and like one of his blue brothers will attempt to learn from the Weyrling master. The hex code for this blue is 185581. (Lu Meng was the stimulus for the creation of this firelizard. He once said, "When you meet someone you have not met for three days, you should see him with a new eye." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lü_Meng)~~~~~~~ The little brown puffed up a bit when he saw his Melanite sister pull herself out of the pile, wasn't she amazing? He then moved toward all the two leggers and very nearly stepped on his own front paws. His little rump was high in the air because his front legs were just a bit longer than they should be. He knew His boy wouldn't care about that though and marched up to him. He seemed to ask, "Why are you giving my food away to others?" yet did so in a polite and kind way. This brown would do his best to never offend anyone.Impressed to Draym A calm brown who, when not in the company of his human prefers to be with a specific pair of his brown siblings or alone where he can admire his Melanite sister unimpeded by the needs or wants of others. He is benevolent, loyal and compassionate. If the brown hears anyone crying he does what he can to understand why they are upset and tries his firelizard best to stop the tears and bring happiness. He believes in getting to the point of what he's trying to say/show and keeps things as concise as possible. If his human doesn't agree in keeping things short, sweet, and to the point the brown will try and change the trait in his bonded. This brown is not one who will accept a bribe. If someone tries to bribe him he will go to his owner about it. If his owner is the one who has tried to bribe him he will disappear between somewhere and only return after he feels his point has been made. The brown's wings and forelegs are longer than normal for a firelizard of his body size, yet for him this works. His head knobs are also rather prominent. The hex code for this gentleman is 3B1609. (This firelizard is representative of Liu Bei from Dynasty Warriors. Liu Bei was the sworn brother of Guan Yu and Zhang Fei. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liu_Bei)~~~~~~~ Yet another brown found his way free, and this one seemed to be as large as, no he really was as long as his bronze brothers! And the hide from his chin down to at least a bit past his front paws resembled a very long beard. He ran a paw down his "beard" as he surveyed his surroundings. His seemed to be a timid human, ah well, that was quite alright. He would bide his time a bit longer before introducing himself.

Asosa turned to the Weyrwoman. "Of course," she said. Just then, her vision was obscured by a flit colliding with her face. She quickly and gently disentangled the blue from her hair. She laughed softly at his noises. "I think we'll have to share the meat, though," she told the weyrwoman.
She looked at the blue's color. Beautiful. "Azure," she said with a smile, lifting a piece of meat from the bowl. She stopped to look at it, eyes widening in horror. "Shardit!" she cried, quickly putting the meat back in the bowl. "I'm going to get those kitchen workers!" Her eyes narrowed, and her demeanor changed. She was obviously angry. "The meat's been contaminated!" Azure whined from her shoulder. She reached up to stroke his head. "I'll get some new meat from the kitchens. They have not heard the last of this!" She took the bowl quickly before the weyrwoman could take any meat from it. "Best to not risk it."
Asosamine, is everything alright? Azorith's voice asked. Asosa walked out of the room, placing a hand on Amadahy's shoulder as she passed.
"Back to the kitchens. We need new meat," she said, growling slightly. She might've had the gold as her own if the meat hadn't been bad! A blue was perfectly fine, but a gold... One of the only ones in the weyr... She climbed up on Azorith's back, holding Azure to her chest and the bowl of bad meat in the other hand, and the three took off toward the kitchen.
___
Amadahy nodded at the dragonhealer. She placed a single finger lightly on Emerald's leathery head. "Open your wings for him, please," she told the green. "It's the only way to help."
When he asked about the brown, she looked up at him. "All I meant by that was if it was alright for him to be with her when I can't be," she clarified. "As a fellow Candidate, you know how hard it can be to find free time. Especially with Gritorth's recent Rising. Lessons on top of chores keeps free time down to a bare minimum."
Emerald opened one wing, the one closest to the dragonhealer. She let out a squeal of pain, but didn't pull her wing back. Amadahy turned her attention back to the green. "It hurts now, but it'll be fine once you've healed," she assured her friend. Emerald looked up at her, eyes swirling grey from the pain, but the slight color in them told Amadahy that the green believed her.
She saw Asosa leave with a blue on her shoulder. She looked angry. Something must be wrong with the meat. She saw a purpleish flit, a mutation. Her eyes widened. The purple might not be too keen on shareing, but it's color was absolutely beautiful! She shook her head. After this, she didn't need another flit. Not while Duststorm was still growing.

Spirex nodded. "Ahh, yes of course it's fine. The infirmary is a big place, I'm sure your green would be scared left alone." The dragonhealer said. As the green opened her wings, Spirex winced in sympathy. "I know it hurts...put this paste will numb the pain." The Dragonhealer said. As he was applying it with some of the cloth, he noticed the sickly green. He glanced up at Amadahy.
"If you see who that green over there Impresses too, make sure they either see me or go to the infirmary? She's one we'll need to watch out for, but likely a good feed will be all she needs." Spirex asked. He finished applying the paste and let the cloth stick to it to stop infections. The green looked funny, despite the seriousness of the situation.
"Well that's all I can do for now. I have to stick around here - so if you make sure she keeps her wings open, and stays calm until the hatching is over, it'll be much appreciated." Then he tilted his head, and lifted out a small bottle.
"Here, a weak version of the stuff that knocks us humans out. Make sure she drinks the entire bottle." The man said, before waiting for his next patient. The adult green would be alright.
---
Ruteakyra watched the 'lizards Impressing, secretly hoping Draym would get the Gold...but no. Instead he got a brown - a handsome fellow, and Draym more than deserved it, but the small girl couldn't help but feel a little disappointed. But of course, that quickly passed, and Ruteakyra grinned widely.
"Congrats Draym! He's gorgeous!" She said, Tiny chirping at the brown in curiosity.
---
L'ost blinked at the brown who hadn't yet Impressed. Was that...was that a beard? The man began to laugh quietly into his hand, edging away from the big Gold Wher as he did so, ever so slightly until he was against the wall.
Still laughing at the brown's "beard", the brownrider gave a quick inhale which made him cough. Slumping against the wall in resignation, L'ost laughed and coughed himself back into silence.

Draym was a little shocked when his mind was tugged on by a little brown with some very distinct markings. The little critter looked like he had bones on the outside, the light brown markings looked just like a skeleton. He was gorgeous! And apparently, now Draym's! It wasn't a female, but it was still a fire-lizard. And he was surprisingly calm, for sure. Draym knelt down and picked the brown up, taking some of the meat that was still in his bowl and popping some pieces into the brown's open mouth. He smiled. "Thanks Kyra, he is, isn't he? Shame he isn't a she though!" "Don't be super greedy now, there is plenty of food for anyone that wants it. I brought a lot." As the brown ate, Draym's mind was filled with thoughts of love and contentment. Very calm for a flitter hatchling, especially in this Hatching! That strange mutation didn't register much in Draym's mind, but he stroked the little brown's spine as he fed him. "How about I call you Skel?" The little brown gave a chirp and continued to eat. Skel it was then. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Kilkin and Taril both stepped a little closer. Kilkin was mesmerized by the new color, such a strange little critter. Obviously some kind of wanna be queen with the way she was acting toward her Golden sister. Ah well. Taril smiled as the little fire-lizards continued to Impress. The woman couldn't help but laugh as a blue basically latched on to someone's face. Taril was glad that wasn't her! The gold and the new fire-lizard color were keeping the blue rider's attention too. Mostly that the gold Impressed to Kuritt, one of the wher handlers that resided in the forest. Strange choice.

The Weyrwoman was left standing there rather awkwardly when the girl she was talking to impressed…said she could have some meat, muttered something about contamination and then just up and left. She stood there, staring at the place the girl had been sitting for several seconds before Caspian bit her thumb. She squeaked and jumped a little, looking over at the flit, who was looking at her quite sadly, flashing images to her of him getting thinner and thinner, almost like asking her if she wanted him to waste away to nothingggg. She blinked, transferring the flit to her shoulder, so she could plop her injured thumb in her mouth and gaze around the room for whoever had meat for her poor starving charge. She noticed a girl standing not too far off stuffing a dark firelizard, bronze by the size of it. She walked over, eyeing the bowl of meat in her possession and the firelizard. “ Hello there.” The weyrwoman said brightly once she pulled her thumb out of her mouth. The little teeth marks hurt! Caspian pulled himself higher on His’ shoulder and watched his bronze brother with hungry eyes. Hello brother. He presented to the other, flicking his wings. May I share your meat? I’m so very hungry! He emphasized this by flopping onto his stomach on his girl’s shoulder with a small sigh. Unaware of this exchange, Lilian looked at the girl. “ Do you mind if I use some meat, I asked a girl over there…but she just jumped up and left and this flit is ravenous!”
Mouse was a little disappointed when the firelizard got up and started walking away. The little girl realized she was pouting a little, and realized she had been wishing that the little green would impress to her. She settled back on her heels, watching the firelizard while looking over at Asta. “ This was a bad idea.” She said lowly, pulling Charlie closer to pet him sadly. “ They aren’t gonna want…” Suddenly, she felt little claws on her hand and squeaked, jerking her hand away and letting go of Charlie. The puppy looked confused, and looked back at the blue on his back. Oh hello there! The puppy thumped his tail on the ground happily as the blue crawled over his back, looking down into the puppy’s eyes before looking up at the girl. Didn’t you hear me? He asked plaintively through his images, flicking his tail. I’m so hungry. I hope you don’t intend for me to eat this little canine thing, because it doesn’t look very appetizing at all. Mouse blinked, looking to Asta for help. “ What do I do? I think it’s talking to me.” She said in hushed tones. What was she supposed to do here? The melanite was upset when her sister ran off to find Hers’ though she wouldn’t show it. Why should she give her sister the satisfaction of seeing her upset? She glared after her golden behind, barely noticing the brown at her side. He didn’t mean much to her, after all, she was much stronger than him, which she demonstrated by snapping at one of his wing sails. He leaped away from her, looking at her with oddly glittering eyes before he flew off. The melanite looked back at her sister, glowering. She had wanted that one! Why did the queens get everything they wanted? It just wasn’t fair! She was far better than that shiny cow, and she’d show it. With her choice of person.
Silently huffy, she turned to regard her choices with a stoic air. This wouldn’t do at all. What a pathetic looking lot.He had darted away when his sister snapped at him, not because he was afraid of her, but because she had proven himself to her. If his golden clutchmate had defeated her, then that would be a different story…but with her victory came his respect. He seemed to cackle at her as he flapped his wings, looking around for someone to call His. It had to be the strongest person in the room. Not some disgusting weakling.
He balanced himself on the bedpost, ignoring the others. He glanced towards the one his brother chose with disgust. His blue brother, the one who had fallen off of the bed with him, was the weakest one of them all. And his gold sister…she was weak as well. There was no way to describe how she had turned and fled. He would have to keep a watch on them…no better way than find one that smelled like their people. Dangerous whirling eyes found the form of one girl in particular. Sure, she was a girl, but she was the strongest one in the room. Obviously. She reminded him of his melanite sister. Strong and proud and perfect…and his.
Creeling, he spread his wings to fly to her, noticing at the last second that she was dangerously close the one his brother had chosen. His weak brother. Landing on her arm while she had her hand up for something, he proceeded to dig his claws into her skin, looping his tail around her wrist. She was HIS. His weak brother would stay away! He hissed at the blue angrily, wings flaring dangerously. With a final look in the blue’s direction, the brown turned and climbed the rest of the way up Rei’s arm, his hissing ceasing as his eyes whirled with rainbows. Hallo mine. He would say stoically. You will feed me now, yes? And stay away from my brother. He flashed images of his brother into the girl’s mind, while he glared at the blue. He is weak. Not like us. We are strong, and I will get stronger if you feed me. He nipped her collarbone.
Now. Please. A cunning, ruthless, and highly arrogant brown who will boast quite frequently about whatever he thinks will make him look and sound good to anyone willing to listen. This brown will be unable to accept defeats and will tend to dismiss plan failures with excuses that it's all part of a larger plan he is forming. Some might think that this brown firelizard is wicked in his ways and means to harm others, which is not the case, under the cunning, ruthless, and arrogant exterior lays the faithful and kind heart of a wolf. Wolves cull out the weakest in herds and thus help other species to prosper, this firelizard is the same and seeks to promote the strong and remove the weak from existence. Somehow this cunning brown flitter even faintly resembles a wolf in his expressions and looks. His hex code is 907B71. (This little guy is based on Sima Yi from Dynasty Warriors. Sima Yi was said to be able to turn his head so that he could look directly behind him. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sima_Yi)Well. She was officially done messing around. She didn’t have nearly enough to choose from and her annoying brown brother had just taken one of the better prospects. There was someone, she liked the look of. The girl had just ran into the room and looked rather distracted, but there was a problem. In the form of a very green looking little pest. The melanite snorted lightly, about to try and find someone else when an idea struck her. She was as good as a queen. Why let some little green scare her? She huffed and stepped in the direction of the girl. Maybe she could use the green as a sparring partner…or a punching bag. Whatever.
Her mind made up, she stayed where she was, reaching over to wrap Muir’s mind in her own. Come now love. She would say, passing images of the girl coming over and picking her up. I am starving and must eat. You will take me to eat, will you not? She asked plaintively, tapping her tail against the floor in her impatience. She eyed the green firelizard. Maybe the pest can bring us some food, yes?
What? She needed to save her strength if she was going to use it being the strongest firelizard in the weyr! The first of her kind the Melanite is a fighter through and through. She does what she can to show that she's just as good as her male counterparts. She is straightforward and is often confronting people that she suspects might mean her person harm. Once this particular Melanite starts clutching she will be extraordinarily protective of her offspring, more than is thought to be the norm for firelizards. This fierce and determined little one will need nearly constant supervision to keep her out of trouble. The hex code for this little girl is 2D2D2D. (She is supposed to be the firelizard version of Sun Shang Xiang from Dynasty Warriors. Shang Xiang's maidservants always waited outside her chambers in battle armor. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sun_Shangxiang)

Pol really hadn't been doing a lot when the Weyrwoman approached her, save for feeding Poison and watching the greenrider run out of the room after the Weyrwoman asked for meat. She'd half expected the Weyrwoman to have grown horns and scales, with fangs for added effect, but now, she looked as...well pretty as normal.
Not that Pol was jealous.
Poison, however, regarded the brown with a little disdain - climbing up the side of Pol's head as if to say, Sure, you can have some meat, but this girl is mine. Pol gave a nod to the Weyrwoman.
"Help yourself - maybe that girl was upset because she didn't Impress the Gold? I don't know - Golds seem like too much hassle to me...uh, no offence." Pol said, giving a wry smile. Yeah, not a good idea to offend the Weyrwoman's dragon. Then she held the bowl out, while Poison hissed quietly at the brown as a warning to stay away from Pol.
---
The odd queen Impressed to one of L'osts fellow Weyrlings, and then so did the brown who had been fighting with the blue. The bearded one was still there...but...
With the amount of people, compared to the amount of firelizards left, L'osts chances were dwindling. Not that he minded - firelizards Impressed to anyone, any age - that little girl was proof of that.

L'an glared at Asosa's retreating figure, "Dimglow should have been watching where she was going instead of rushing off like that. She could have stepped on the little one."
He carefully retraced his steps and gave his bowl of meat to Lilian. "Take mine, Weyrwoman. I'm going to make sure that greenrider doesn't overstep herself when she has words with the kitchen workers about the 'tainted meat'. Nobody's having issues with their lizards now."
It seemed the little ones had mostly found their people; he was certain he would not be missed and saw no further reason to stick around. He smiled at those who had new friends and turned to leave the Weyrling's room.
It's still just you and I, Xerth. I'll be at our weyr shortly. He sent to his bronze as he paused at the doorway.

Asta leaned down to watch Charlie as he kept an eye over the sickly little green and dry her of the nasty egg goo. The girl couldn’t help but wrinkle her nose at the idea of even tasting that stuff. Gross! The green seemed to have other plans though and began her long little journey back towards the room. Did she think her person was actually in there now? Asta tilted her head in confusion. York and Rhava had pretty much gone straight to her when they had hatched. Maybe all the hatching chaos disoriented them?
Concentrated on watching the little green attempt to turn back, she almost jumped when Mouse suddenly squeaked. What happen-oh! There was a blue firelizard sitting on Charlie’s back. He was staring intently at Mouse and no one else in the hallway here. Rhava and York suddenly cheeped a greeting to the little thing, understanding what was happening before the two girls did. Finally the lightbulb went on and Asta smiled.
“He wants you, Mouse. See how he’s looking right at you?” She exclaimed happily. “Wait right here!”
Asta slipped inside the crowded room for a second and returned with a bowl from one of the offering adults. She handed it to Mouse and gestured for her to pick up a piece of the meat inside.
“Go on and feed him. Make sure to give him little pieces though. Feed him until he’s full and sleepy.”
Kuritt watched from his corner with interest as browns, blues, and bronzes scrambled for their people now that they were done trying to eat each other. Glancing up for a second, he noted that one of the firelizards had made its way to the Whermaster. So much for Kuritsk’s preference for not having any of these chatty things come back home with them. One noisy brown decided at Rei was also a fine match for him. He could just imagine how lovely it would be convincing the brown, much less the other whers that these things weren’t to be treated as snacks.
Something odd stirred amongst the pile of remaining hatchlings. It looked like a dark brown at first but the odd sheen of its hide and size made Kuritt take a second glance. The little thing decided to have a hissing feast with its golden sister; something no other color would dare to do. Was it another mutation like that white that had hatched for the dragons? He could feel Kuritsk snarl in the corner of his mind. He better not bring THAT one back home with him. He was beginning to wonder if any of these things would actually take a liking to him. He hadn’t put any thought into trying to attract one. He hadn’t even brought a bowl of meat with him.
Safe to say, he wasn’t expecting the gold to suddenly launch herself into the air and attempt to land on his head. Kuritt resisted every urge to swat at the dainty little thing when her claws dug into his scalp. Trying to save whatever dignity he had left, the handler tried not to look slightly pained as she oriented herself into a proper place to look down at him before falling and catching herself on his shirt. He reached up and scratched the queen’s little eye ridges and received a grateful hum. Her hunger pangs that she continued to send couldn’t be ignored though. Wait..the queen wanted him!? Oh wouldn’t this be a fun thing to explain to the other handlers.
Kuritt quickly excused himself from the crowd and being careful not to knock the little gold off his shoulder as he did so. Outside, Kuritsk was waiting beside the large golden wher. His eyes began to whirl quicker when he noticed the passenger on his handler’s shoulder. A low growl rumbled out of his throat for a moment but the little queen sat up perfectly straight and hissed right back. The wher blinked, taken back, and quieted down as if Thalelensk had ordered him herself. Kuritt offered a genuine laugh at the idea of this tiny baby already taking charge. Maybe he wouldn’t have to worry about him eating her afterall.
Little queen is…loud. She want you? “She made it abundantly clear when she grabbed my face.” Should eat her for hurting you. Little queen, Kuritt is mine. The wher snorted as he lifted his head to look at eye level with the gold.
The gold stared at the big monster with as much confidence as before and ruffled her wings before putting them back at her side as if to say “You don’t scare me!”. Kuritsk snorted again and plopped his head back down on his front legs while Kuritt wrestled a few pieces of dried wherry from his pocket. The little gold chirped happily and began eating until there was nothing left but crumbs in both his hands and his pockets. Full, she laid across his shoulder with her tail lightly wrapped around his neck to balance her as she napped.
Funny thing have name? “Leanansidhe. How does that sound to you?” Kuritt asked as he slumped down onto the offered leg of the brown. Don’t care. She stay quiet and we be good. The wher growled again, rolling one eyes to look at the sleeping thing before closing again until his handler was ready to head back home.

Indeed the excitement wasn't wearing thin in the least. 'Lizards were jumping from the bed now, latching onto their persons, or at least attempting to. They seemed to have a love for heads and faces in the least. One of the Blues that had been caught up in a scrap with hissing at his Gold clutchmate had taken to Thaelen's pants at this point.
He seemed very content in clamoring up the man's leg, but as soon as he caught sight of Aeleki, that changed. It must really hate the little guy...sad. But the Blue sure loved Thaelen, as it was snuggling up against the whermaster's neck now, curled up in a scarf-like fashion around his neck.
A small smile did escape her, but she felt a little bad. Such a possessive little thing, but the blue would get used to having others around, hopefully. Her attention had been distracted, and just when she was adjusting her arms a sharp pain and sunk into her skin on her forearm. She bit back a curse, noticing that a brown fire-lizard had latched onto her, its tail wrapping around her wrist.
Blinking, she felt a small pressing against her mind, a cool thought that could only mean Impression. It was always a wonderful feeling, and she smiled, although the Brown seemed very content in clamoring up her arm with his sharp claws to settle on her shoulder. He hissed at the Blue that had claimed Thaelen, no doubt this Brown had been the one who had been fighting with him before.
He was a strong little guy, that was for sure. "You're quite the proud lil' fella," she replied, but was grinning. Reisk seemed to come back in her mind, noticing the change straightaway.
'Lizard understands strength. Should get along well. Reisk said, seeming to accept the flit into their little family. So long as he does not make so much noise as others. Then we have problem. Well, it was a good hope anyway, Rei thought.
"A big guy like you, that deserves a strong name," she replied, thinking on that for a moment. What would be fitting? "Ladon, that sounds fitting. C'mere." She held up a piece of meat from the bowl she had brought, and it was gone before she could blink. It made he laugh a little, and she fed him a bit more. He was ravenous, eager to get bigger, become stronger. If he was to protect His and show his weak Blue brother up, he must eat to get strong.

N'kan was standing to one side, trying not to let his bulk get in the way. It was hard, considering how crowded the room was. He had just seen that a beautiful, little Gold had hatched. What a pretty thing she was, like a little sunbeam. And then she puked on someone's shoes and stormed off in a huff, so to speak. He chuckled to himself, she'd be a haughty thing when she grew.
Then he noticed, in all the commotion, a tiny probe at his mind, like an ember of love next to the great fire that was Sikketh. He looked down, and saw at his feet the other little bronze that had been involved in the fight. The little guy was creeling with hunger, as well as being all scratched up. N'kan felt his heart squeeze almost painfully with a sudden onslaught of love. "Oh, you poor little guy," he said in his deep voice, as he reached down to pick up the hatchling bronze, practically swallowing him with his giant hand as he picked him up gently as he could, and then he popped a piece of meat into his impatient little mouth.
Filling the stomach of the little bronze took most of his time and attention, though he did just barely notice the Hatching and Impression of a strange new-colored female. But after a while, N'kan's mind stopped being pricked by hunger pangs, and he felt able to look at the little guy more closely. He really was all banged up. "You're a fierce little guy aren't you?" the brownrider said thoughtfully. "I think I'll call you Lion."
Name decided upon, N'kan made his way to the young dragonhealer who'd been helping the the green with the shredded wings. "When you're done with her, would you mind looking at Lion? He's a little banged up," he asked before turning to the distressed girl. "I'm sorry about your little green. Seems that Lion and his brother don't much get along."

Spirex looked up at the rider and his newfound firelizard. "Oh, I'm done now, I can take a look at him." Spirex said, flashing a small smile. "Ahh, so he's one of the ones who tore up the green, was he? Strong little bugger - although not unscathed himself..."
Spirex, who had stood up to look at the bronze, then knelt down and pulled out a cleansing solution in a small bottle from his bag. "Well, he's going to be just fine - a few drops of this morning and night and his eyelid'll heal right up. If you come see me or one of the other dragonhealers in a Sevenday's time for a quick checkup...Also come straight away if it gets infected. After all, bronzes need two eyes to win Flights and the like."
The Spirex looked up at the rather tall man. "If he has eaten, then he isn't in any danger. Babies tend to heal quickly, so just tend to him how you tend to your dragon, keep an eye on that eye, and he should be fine. Any other concerns, and then, as I said, come to the infirmary and see me or another healer."

The Hatching went by fast after Taril got there. There were literally barely two little firelizards left now. It was probably very likely that she would not get one this time. She shrugged. Yuth would probably pout. He would either way. There were no more blues left. And of course, Yuth had told her to get a blue. Vain dragon. She shook her head, standing around by some of the others that hadn't Impressed yet. That poor sickly little green needed a Healer. She hoped the thing wasn't going to die. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Kilkin shrugged. He figured this would happen. He was pretty sure that he would be left Standing and never Impress a dragon too. That would be okay, he could focus on his Healing then. Still, he had always wanted a dragon. Impressing would be nice, it would give him at least proof he wasn't completely closed off. Ah well, fire-lizard clutches were fairly common. He had other chances. Not all of them were Gold clutches though, but that was okay too. He didn't really care what color the fire-lizard was. He took a few steps back and just watched. He could see a sick little green barely crawling on the floor. Poor thing. Where was that other fire-lizard? Had to be around here somewhere..

The "bearded" brown was finally finished surveying his admirers and carefully made his way to the people for a closer inspection. When he got to L'ost he stopped. He rather liked this one even though it seemed the male human was laughing at him... Laughing! At such a dignified being? Well, he supposed he was somewhat amusing looking with being so long and his beard looking hide..Impressed to L'ost At first glance this brown looks slightly longer than even the longest bronze, of course this could just be a trick of one’s eyes. Then he stretches out and one sees that he is indeed a very long brown. He even appears to have a beard that is one third as long as he is! However, upon closer inspection one realizes that it is just the color of his leathery hide that makes it look like he’s got a beard. His eyes are always fully focused on whatever he’s looking at, this can be quite unnerving for some people if he ever turns his attention to them as they seem to glow with an inner fire. He also isn’t pure brown, he seems to fade from a greenish-brown to a reddish-brown yet he is truly a brown. He always strives to uphold what is right and frowns on the fact that his brown sibling seems to constantly be getting into alcohol. There is a time and place for such things and the time for it is not all the time! A heroic brown that should have perhaps been a bronze instead because of his heroic attitude; he will try and “rescue” his chosen one if a rescue is ever needed. The brown can often be found sneaking into the Weyr’s records room to try and read and learn about the world which he belongs to. As strange as it might be this guy is quite a scholar. The hex code for him is 3F2512. (This brown is the personification of Guan Yu from Dynasty Warriors. It is said that after he was killed and his head was delivered to Cao Cao that Cao Cao greeted it saying, “I hope you are well since we last parted.” Much to Cao Cao’s horror the eyes and mouth opened and the beard and hairs atop the head stood on end. Cao Cao passed out in fear. After he awoke he buried the head with all the honors befitting a noble. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guan_Yu) This green was coiled about an unhatched egg. The humans probably thought the egg was a dud, but the siblings to the egg knew it held something special inside it, something that they, the egg's person, and the creatures bonded to the egg's person could see. Nobody else would see this baby, and they didn't know why only they would see it.
Arnmaer looked at her green daughter and then at the egg, then to Valdis and flashed a picture of two female blue riders. The egg and green flitter each wanted a female blue rider.Valdis sighed, "Arnmaer wants the female blueriders up front here where the green can get a look at you. Would everyone who has a firelizard and food for it please move to another area? Those of you who don't have food for the little ones go speak to the drudge." She pointed out the drudge who was standing in a corner of the room. "Be careful of the little green..." She trailed off as the sickly looking green seemed to suddenly realize L'an was hers. A relieved sounding chirp came from the tiny green as the human bent down to look at her closely. She went limp and laid on the ground panting up at him, "Love me, pick me up, cuddle me, and feed me..." Her rainbow eyes seemed to say as she looked upon the human lovingly.
Impressed to L'an Color: Green (738678)
Appearance: This little girl doesn't have much going for her in terms of appearance. She seems to be little more than thin hide stretched over bones. It isn't known how much muscle she has on her little frame, probably not much at all, judging by her sickly appearance. At hatching, she looks so bad, that it's a wonder how she made it out of her shell at all. Given regular feedings, she'll shape up a little, but she will perpetually look like a bag of bones, having an extremely fast metabolism. Any hopes of fattening up this girl are futile ones.
Small for even a green, she'll probably stretch out to be one of the smallest green firelizards on pern. Her wings are even a bit small, meaning her flights will never be long or hard, and making her an extremely easy flit to force catch, if a male wanted to do so and she wasn't watching out. Because of her small wings, she finds it difficult to fly anywhere far away. As such, she prefers to spend more time perched on Her's shoulder than flying around anywhere. As if to make up for her tiny wings, she has an extra-long tail, that she uses to wrap around things and anchor her in place.
It seems, in coloration, she still didn't get blessed. Her color is a sickly shade of green almost edging on grey. It covers her entire body. The color seems perpetually matte and horribly dull, as if she were sick constantly. Her eyes are also somewhat cloudy, making any color her eyes change to washed out and dull. It's hard to distinguish between the colors sometimes to tell what this little green is thinking.
Personality: Despite how sickly she looks, she's an ambitious little firelizard. She knows full well how small and how inept she is at fighting, but she wants to be on top. Honor is a big thing for her, so she desires above all else to work her way to the top of the ladder. It's just difficult to find anyone that takes her seriously, because her sickly appearance isn't just in looks, but it impairs her physical abilities as well. She can't do anything terribly vigorous because she just doesn't have the energy. She gets tired very easily, and anything too physical could kill her very easily.
She has determination and ambition in spades though, and no matter how many times she fails, she's always willing to get back up and try again. No matter how many times it takes her to prove herself to the "higher" colors, she is bound and determined to prove herself. Because deep down, she has this thirst to prove that she isn't a weakling, even though she is quite physically weak. She believes that it's what in the mind that matters and what you are or aren't able to do with your body. So she'll keep trying, no matter what.
When it comes to flights, she won't fly all that often. When she does rise, maybe once a turn if she's feeling well enough, her flights will often be short because she just doesn't have the strength to fly very far or for very long. Any males looking to catch her should be careful, because while she's extremely easy to force catch, if one does try to, she's absolutely vicious, convinced that in HER flight, it's HER choice who she chooses. While she's rather sedate and quiet in her convictions most of the time, during her flights, she is neither sedate nor demure. She WILL try to tear any male apart who tries to force her, since she refuses to be a victim. She's tiny, so she likely wouldn't be able to do much damage, but it would make the male thoroughly uncomfortable for the duration of the flight. Because of her handicaps, she will likely never clutch. If she does happen to clutch, most of the eggs will be duds, and the clutch will be very, very tiny.
