So, Ramba was reading through the c-box out of boredom, and noticed that there was some discussion about limiting rankers. So here's my viewpoint on it; though it might not be worth reading. ^^'
While limiting rankers is a good idea, until we get a lot of members, I would say don't limit it to one gold creature per player. I know there probably won't be a lot of Golds hatching, but it is a tad restrictive. I'd also suggest a "no golds allowed through creation" rule, unless there are some available, or they have been earned through contests etc.
This way, rankers are available through Impression only unless stated otherwise.
Also just another note which I've seen happen to many fallen sites;
Don't restrict the ranking creatures to the role-players who write a lot. If a character fits, and the member has proven themselves as someone who will stick to the site like glue, then surely they would deserve a ranking creature more than the roleplayer who has just joined who posted an amazing app the day before a hatching?
Also, I like the idea of member run clutches (I noticed it change in clutching guidelines), I've seen it work on many sites. An admin gives out the amount of eggs a creature has clutches, along with the colours, and the member writes everything else about them and decides who the dragon Impresses to, and the admin approves it. I would suggest setting a minimum wait time between dragon clutches though, so the site isn't over run with them.
Another idea I've seen around is a shop based system and/or a reward system for loyalty to the site. For example a permenant advertising reward system, so a member can claim a small prize for however many places they advertise at. You could also have better prizes for more advertising; so 100+ places could award a rare/unique firelizard egg, and 3oo+ could award a rare/unique clutching firelizard egg.
The shop-based system would allow members to buy things after completing certain tasks and earning in-game currency. Set prices for certain things (like 1000 pieces of gold for a HAD, 100 pieces of Gold for a small firelizard egg that would contain green, blue or a small mutation.)
A Post ranking system (which wouldn't work unless you set the board to only show IC posts in a total post count), would mean that someone with more posts could get themselves a higher ranking dragon/flit after say, 800+posts.
Also, I've seen a few sites with a system that allow a character to advance in craft or rank after completing certain tasks IC. So say three tasks could see an apprentice rank to a journeyman etc.
But yes, just a few suggestions which could work. ^^'
