'Forsaken', 'filthy', 'wrong' - these are just some of the words used to describe Tennar Weyr.
For as long as people can remember, mutants have been born in the Weyr, but after the numbers grew too much, the Northern Continent launched a merciless attack on the Weyr - the result: almost the whole population wiped out, and the shunned Weyr is left to work towards its revival.
For a time, it seemed to be going well for Tennar; the hatchings were plentiful and strong, and the Protectorate was able to flourish without the help of outside Holds. The Weyr's decision to fully intergrate the whers and handlers into their society proved useful - creating a strong link between the riders and handlers.
However, at the end of the 8th Interval, a deadly plague spread through the Weyr, infecting dragons and whers alike, Tennar tries to get back on its feet after disastrous losses. Gold Xath laid her last clutch on the Sands just before dying, and it is Gold Jaspeth who has stepped in as mother - forcing a inexperienced and unconfident young woman to step in as Temporary Weyrwoman.
In a last desperate bid to revive Tennar, the riders go out on a Continental wide Search for Candidates to Stand at the hatching. The golden egg is the Weyr's greatly needed hope.
A 9th Pass Pern role playing site. Non-Canon. Newly opened.
