Amadahy watched as the newest dragonet Impressed a boy in the stands. That left... Two? No, three. She turned quickly as she felt one of the other girls dash out to one of the eggs. She wanted to stop the girl, Ruteakyra she remembered, but she also somehow felt that this was supposed to happen. She suddenly turned back at the Northern Star egg, thinking. Didn't a Gold move a Gold egg away from the rest of the clutch? Then... Maybe that one had a Gold inside it...? She felt her hopes rising. There weren't that many girls left to choose from. She felt her hopes rise. Emerald instantly noticed the change in her owner's mental state, also becoming happier.
Amadahy turned back to the girl who had run to the egg. The dragonet was so small! But... That shimmering white color... Could this one be the Gold? No... The Golds were normally put away from the rest of the clutch. Then again... Was it possible for a clutch to have two Golds?

Ruteakyra gasped at the white dragon as it was finally free from the shell. She'd heard about these! The smallest dragons, and very, very rare! It explained why it had found it difficult to hatch from it's egg. A wave of emotion hit Ruteakyra, stronger than any she had felt before and she realised she didn't want this white to go off and Impress to anyone else. Was that selfish?
No...
It was Impression!
Ruteakyra threw her arms around the little white's neck as it spoke to her.
Oh I thought I would never get out of there. I knew you would come to save your, Angeth. I am so tired from breaking that stupid shell. Could we please get something to eat?
Ruteakyra let go of the white, a big grin on her face. She hoped that brown rider could see her! She hoped S'ril had been watching! She had Impressed after all, and she felt like there wasn't anything about this hatching that could have been better! Angeth...a female white! All to herself!
Then Ruteakyra had a sudden realisation of how close they were to the other eggs, and how dangerous it could be for them to still be there when an unImpressed dragon hatched. The little girl stood up, and lead the little white over to the food. Two little Weyrlings with big hopes for the future!

The excitement of the hatching was beginning to wind down as the fate of the rest of the candidates laid in the two remaining eggs on the sands; the Northern Star and the Christmas Tree eggs. People's worry about only a brown were put to rest when the beautiful white had hatched. The flight of the senior queen must have been successful if she produced the rarest dragon on Pern, much less another clutching female to help fill the ranks! So what other mysteries lay in the two unhatched eggs? The Northern Star egg finally decided to get its act together. It began rocking violently in its sandy hollow and drew cracks from the center of the starburst marking on its shell. In one more great heave, a head burst through the center. The crowd in the stands roared to applause as the tiny bronze dragon shoved his front legs through and dragged himself out through the hole he created. So there was a metallic in this clutch after all! He was a pale bronze and could almost be mistaken as his white sister in certain lights. Under his belly, neck, lower face, and even his front legs looks like they were dipped in white paint. The very tip of his wing joint was also the same color. He was on the smaller side for a hatchling of his color but it wouldn't matter as he would still grow to be a tad larger than his brown clutchmate. The Bronze raised his head regally, as if understanding what a worthy prize and work that came to any rider who he would seek out. He walked purposely towards the boys now; every stride full of confidence and full of strength. The young bronze began to go down the line and giving each boy a close inspection. Maybe this one? No, he won't do nor will that other one. His blue brothers took the few male candidates left. He snorted at the last boy left and plopped down in the sand. None of them were HIS boy. He craned his head towards the stands around him and gave a brassy challenge. Why was his boy not down here with the others? Finally something tugged on his mind and the bronze charged towards the steps into the stands and making spectators move quickly out of the way. Valic? Where in blazes have you gone? You should be on the sands waiting for me. Your Gabrith is so hungry. Won't you please stop hiding and come feed me?[/i] Bronze Gabrith Name: Gabrith Turns: Hatchling Weyrling Class: Christmas Color: Bronze (a6a58d) Size: 37 Meters (when mature)
Appearance: Gabrith is an oddity among bronzes. He’ll grow to be on the smaller side of the scale but that won’t be his most outstanding feature. Unlike the darker green or brown like shade, Gabrith is a very pale bronze. His hide looks like it’s been faded in the sun and leave several people question what color he is exactly. The joint tip on his wings, muzzle, neck, chest, and large potion of his front legs are even paler. In certain lights, the markings almost look white.
He is neither stocky nor lanky. Gabrith falls under a normal category for build despite his odd coloration. He tends to hold himself regally to show off the strong wing and back leg muscles that will certainly win him future flights. His light hide shows off his muscles a lot more than others and he always seem to have a better sheen than other bronzes.
Personality:
Gabrith is a Bronze, and he knows it. ducky, Gabrith thinks he knows best. He takes a lot of convincing to prove he isn't right, and usually only his rider can do that. Even though he is the same size as his Brown clutch brother, Gabrith thinks he is larger than life.
This male is also a self proclaimed sweet talker of the ladies. Gabrith in reality is just as bad with females as his Green sister Tinseth is with males. He just says the wrong things. But he is brave and actually very strong.
For all his big talk, Gabrith is actually quite a kitten when it comes to his rider. In Flights and alone with His, is where Gabrith's true self comes out. This Bronze is a closet romantic.

Amadahy watched as the Northern Star egg hatched a nearly white bronze. She sighed softly. A bronze... Never had a bronze Impressed on a girl... Girls were either Impressed by Greens or Golds... Maybe a rare blue... And apparently the Whites were clutching females. Amadahy guessed that Whites would always Impress a girl.
She sighed again. Two eggs left... Amadahy realized that her only chance of Impressing a dragonet this clutch would be with a Green. It was unlikely that there was going to be a Gold. She doubted that another White would hatch. Whites were plenty rare already.
Emerald nuzzled Amadahy's neck softly. Amadahy suddenly saw herself standing with a new clutch, normal colored. She shook her head. It looked like she'd be walking off the sands without a dragon... She wasn't surprised. There were more Candidates than there were eggs. Many others would be sent back without a dragon to wait out the time until the next clutch was laid.
Amadahy straightened. She couldn't let her disappointment show until she was alone. If she showed her disappointment, everyone would know... Everyone would be able to see... And all those who told her that she was unfit to be a Candidate would come to her and claim that they were right. She wasn't going to let the fact that her birth parents and Fosterer had died when the meteors fell. She hadn't ever found her Fosterer's pet, either...
She shook these thoughts from her mind and looked at the remaining two eggs. Which one would hatch first? What colors would they be? Who would they Impress?

The Christmas Tree Egg was violently shaking by now. Cracks forming in the egg as the dragonet inside went crazy, trying to get out of its eggy prison. Suddenly, a green tail exploded from the shell, whacking at the shell from the outside. Cracks formed quicker now. A fore-claw pushed through, trying to get the green out of her shell. Finally, all her efforts paid off, and she shattered her shell. The green stood there, covered in bits of her own shell, some reds and dark greens, bits of the Christmas Tree Egg still clinging to her as if it didn't want to let her go. But that didn't stop this little green. She bounded around the Cavern, around the remains of the eggs of her siblings and sniffed at all the Candidates. Twice. She even nuzzled a few of the Candidates before she turned and purposefully bounded over to Muir. Mine, I'm done being friendly. I need food Muir, please feed your Natalith!Green Natalith Name: Natalith Turns: Hatchling Weyrling Class: Christmas Color: Green (b9bd63) Size: 24 Meters (when mature) Impressed to: Muir
Appearance: Natalith is a medium sized green with a rather unusual hide. She has a rather bright green hide that borders on a sort of yellow hue. People would probably mistake her for a weyrling queen in a bright light. The digits in her wings are a much darker shade of yellow green has well as her tail tips and tips of her toes. A thin strip of the same color runs up from the base of her hips to just a bit before the back of her skull.
Personality: Natalith is a dragon that every enjoys being around. She constantly brimming with energy, optimistic, and has a streak for some devilish fun. The green is a social butterfly and often gets her wings in a ruffle when she's not included in the group.
She constantly yearns to be entertained and is keen on asking questions on just about everything. Natalith is a never ending stream of curiosity and sometimes is a bit too much for some people. She often forgoes manners in her excitement; though she never means to offend. In all, she's a pleasure to be around if you can stand the bouncing energy ball.

Valic was keeping his eyes on Valdis, he was so happy for her. The joy was threatening to overcome him at this point! By now however the two were out of sight and Valic looked for her. Hmm...no Valdis. It was out of respect for the Gold that he stayed, and on a pure curiosity as to what the other eggs would bring. This being so that he completely missed the Blue dragonets being hatched as well as the pair of Greens. He did manage to get his attention back on the Sands for the next Blue to Impress.
His mind wandered, however, to the Hatching Feast that would commence later after the newly hatched Dragonets had been fed. The sight of movement caught Valic's attention then, and his eyes followed the Candidate who had run over to the eggs that were left in the clutch. He was amazed as the little girl helped to pry open the egg's shell, and a White dragonet emerged! The Stands cheered, and he did as well, amazed and filled with wonder at the White one. He had heard of their rarity.
Two more eggs left. The Northern Star egg, which had been put off a far side away from the others contemplated a sketchy opinion from many of the Stands gatherers beforehand. Would it be a Gold? But the chances were very unlikely. Ciel nestled into his hair, a soft croon of excitement in his voice and Valic smiled at the blue. He was just as curious. Sooner than he had expected, Ciel was off and humming again, soaring with the other colors of his kind.
When the egg exploded, a white color was all that Valic could see for a moment, but on further examination...it was a Bronze! His cheer went up with the rest of the Stands. A Bronze had hatched in this clutch! Much praise went to Gritorth, and there was still one mystery egg to hatch as well! The Bronze sniffed at the male Candidates and Valic watched as he tried to make his decision. However, he seemed thoroughly unimpressed with any of them. Would he between or someone else in the Stands get him? It was completely off Valic's radar that he was eligible. He was a Apprentice Healer of the Weyr.
It seemed a Stands Impression would happen as the Bronze charged for the steps into them, shocking Valic as he headed in his general direction. He prepared to move out of the way as the pale Bronze seemed insistent in coming up here for his bonded. Just as he was about to move, Valic froze, shock visible on his face.
"Valic? Where in blazes have you gone? You should be on the sands waiting for me. Your Gabrith is so hungry. Won't you please stop hiding and come feed me?"
"...Gabrith?" the word seemed so familiar as a strange feeling filled Valic up to the brim. But...but, he wasn't a Rider...! The feeling contradicted everything he had originally thought, and after looking at Gabrith again after the sweeping feeling, he knew it. He was Gabrith's. He was his. Shoving his way through the rest of the people there he went over to Gabrith and nodded. "Yes, I'm sorry," he said, softly at first, "I wasn't hiding, but we will definitely get you something to eat. Something that fits a Bronze like you!"
Gabrith liked the sound of that, and the pair exited the Stands just as the last egg hatched a pretty Green, who also could have been mistaken for another color. Valic, no...now Val'c, could not pay attention to them now, not when Gabrith was starving and needed his help to be fed. A Dragonrider... The name was foreign, but it empowered him. He hadn't been chosen to Stand even in the first place, but! Here he was, Impressed, and to a Bronze at that! Wouldn't Valdis be proud of him? Her elder brother a Dragonrider as well?
Is this Valdis something I can eat? remarked Gabrith, taking note of his thoughts as Val'c got him some meat to eat, swallowing the entire piece whole as he persisted his hunger on his Rider. Because I could eat an entire Valdis if that's that.
The words made Val'c laugh. "No, no!" he chuckled, continuing to feed the ravenous Bronze, "She's my twin sister. Impressed to your Green sister." Gabrith seemed to understand the context and continued to eat. Val'c smiled, thinking on how quickly his life had changed in just the past few minutes.

Sulja shook her head in disgust once the last egg cracked and no gold was within it. No breeders! Not a single sharding egg laying dragon. And a white. What use will that one be?
"Well, Fia, let's go get some rest, shall we?" Luckily the green-pair had had their shift at night watch the past seven-day and nobody would give a second thought if Sulja wasn't around for the rest of the day. She and Fia could get whatever rest they wanted and needed for the coming night's trek north without arousing anyone's suspicions.

Amadahy sighed as the last egg hatched. She turned and walked off the sands after bowing respectfully to the senior Gold. She waited until she was out of sight of the others before dashing off toward the Candidate Barracks. Almost all the other girls had Impressed a dragon... Why not her? She was in her room before the tears started. Emerald flew off her shoulder, settling on the pillow near Amadahy's face. Amadahy fell onto the bed, her face buried in the pillow.
What if they were right? What if I'm not fit to be a Candidate? These questions and more were running through her head as she let her frustration and disappointment out on the pillow. She couldn't believe she'd somehow been skipped over by every single dragon...

S'ril coughed and sat up, sighing. You missed it, Mine. The little one from the feeding pens Impressed. She Impressed to a White. Angeth. A small little thing.Shards Well, S'ril guessed he would have to go to the Feast. He needed to congratulate her. She would be very happy with a dragon. And whites weren't as sexual as most, or so he had heard. Perfect fit. He readied himself slowly for his departure to the feast. He had time, and he was still sick. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Draym and Kilkin both sighed and shook their heads. Neither had Impressed. While Kilkin just walked off, muttering about duty at the Infirmary, Draym smiled. His sister had Impressed. That was good. Maybe over time, her new life-mate would make her realize that there were other men besides him. That was good. And Kyra had Impressed. A white, no less. That was amazing. And she looked so happy. There was a feast today, and Draym would have lots of fun there with Kyra, and hopefully even his sister.
